I'd like to extend a big "thank you" to the
Archon staff for inviting us out and giving us so many opportunities to interact with the con attendees. We really enjoyed the weekend and look forward to coming back next year.
We're experienced podcasters, but this was our first time working as members of the press. We had no practical experience covering a large event or using some of our equipment in uncontrolled, public settings. Some of our plans worked out as expected and some did not. I'm not surprised, as this is typical of the first try one makes at anything.
Our panels went exceptionally well, and I was thrilled to work with folks as polite and professional as
Tony and
Ryu. The attendees were also generally receptive when we walked around with an open mic. In fact, more things went right than I have space to mention.
However, I still have my eyes on improvements for next year. I'd like to reorganize our coverage to be more complete, including a lot more staff and guest interaction, starting well before Archon actually hits. I'd also like to change some of our sound equipment to work better in an open setting, bringing the panel recordings up to the same quality as our normal podcast episodes. Hopefully more details will follow as I work with the Archon staff to get ready for 2007.
Thanks again to Archon for giving us this chance, particularly Darrell who worked so closely with us! And an even bigger thanks to the attendees for playing along with this little experiment!
